Frequently Asked Questions
What's included in a guided trip?
We provide quality rods, reels, bait, and tackle. For full-day expeditions, lunches and drinks are also included. Our guides provide personalized coaching throughout the session. Fishing licences (boat only) are your responsibility to purchase prior to that fishing day.
What should I bring?
We recommend polarized sunglasses, high-SPF sunscreen, a wide-brimmed hat, and comfortable fishing hoodies. Don't forget your camera to capture the catches and scenery! A dry bag to keep your tackle and personal items protected.
Do I need prior fishing experience?
Not at all. We tailor every trip to your skill level, from absolute beginners looking for their first catch to experienced anglers seeking to master specific Baja techniques.
What is the weather/cancellation policy?
Safety is our priority. If harbour masters close the port or surf conditions are unsafe, we will attempt to reschedule or provide a full refund. Cancellations made 7 days in advance are fully refundable. Please read our cancellation policy and liability waivers carefully before booking a trip.
Are fishing licenses required for shore fishing?
In Mexico, a fishing license is generally not required for shore fishing. However, rules can change based on the specific location or marine park regulations. We will guide you based on current local laws.
Can I bring my own fishing gear?
Absolutely. While we provide high-quality equipment, many experienced anglers prefer their own lucky rods and reels. Our guides can help you set up your personal gear for Baja conditions.
What species are commonly caught?
From shore, popular targets include Roosterfish, Sierra Mackerel, and various Jack species. On boats, you can find Dorado (Mahi-Mahi), Yellowfin Tuna, and seasonal Billfish. Every season brings new excitement!
Is Baja California safe to visit?
Yes, safety is central to our operation. Our guided trips focus on secure, well-known coastal areas, and we maintain constant communication and local protocols to ensure a safe and reassuring experience for all our guests.

Louis Marino Guide and Owner
Baja Fish Guide - based in Cabo Pulmo, Baja California Sur, is your fishing destination
on the East Cape.
Catering to both fly and spin casters, we provide personalized fishing guiding and accommodation with local Mexican and American guides either from shore or in pangas.
Spending too many summers to count sleeping on deserted beaches on both sides of the Baja Peninsula, I have finally made my dream come true when I purchased a lot in Cabo Pulmo and built several properties, I now have become a permanent resident and fish nearly everyday, either from shore, my kayak or in a boat.
